Firm History

 Bucceri & Pincus Esqs. was founded in 1981 by Sheldon H. Pincus, Esq. and Louis Bucceri, Esq. to provide legal counsel specializing in the representation of employees in the public and private sectors. Since that time our partnership has grown with the addition of experienced labor advocate, Gregory T. Syrek, Esq. Albert J. Leonardo, Esq. joined us as an attorney with the firm in 2011.

Our Attorneys

Sheldon H. Pincus

 Sheldon H. Pincus is a Senior Partner at Bucceri & Pincus, Esqs., oncentrating in legal services in public and private sector labor, employment, and education law. Mr. Pincus’ focus is in representing employees in discrimination, wrongful discharge, and civil rights matters. 

        Admitted to practice in New Jersey, the District of Columbia, the District of New Jersey and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, he is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and its Labor and Employment Law Section, where he currently serves as both a member of its Executive Committee and as a Master of the Bench of the Sidney Reitman Employment Law American Inns of Court. He is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. He is also a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association and its New Jersey Chapter (NELA-N.J.) in which he served as the Chairman of its Amicus Committee for three years and as a member of its Executive Board for four years. Mr. Pincus is listed in Who’s Who in American Law and has further been selected for inclusion in the 2009, 2010 , 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015,  2016 and 2017 New Jersey Super Lawyers lists.*

               Mr. Pincus frequently lectures and conducts workshops for numerous public employee organizations, and has often appeared as a speaker at the annual conferences on Public Sector Labor Relations sponsored by the Public Employment Relations Commission and the New Jersey State Bar Association. He has further served as a panelist at the conferences sponsored by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education and the National Employment Lawyers Association; speaking on such issues as mediation, arbitration and sexual harassment, as well as trial and advocacy skills.  Mr. Pincus received his Bachelor of Science degree, with Distinction, from the Pennsylvania State University in 1973, and his Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers School of Law in Newark in 1977.

Louis Bucceri

 Lou Bucceri is a senior partner in Bucceri & Pincus, specializing in legal services including public sector education and labor laws. He has represented New Jersey employees and their unions since 1975. His practice includes numerous appearances before the Public Employment Relations Commission, the New Jersey Department of Education and the Office of Administrative Law. He represents clients before the New Jersey Division of Pensions, the State Board of Examiners and cases arising out of investigations by the New Jersey Department of Children and Families and termination of employment. He is admitted to practice in the State and Federal Courts of New Jersey, as well as the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Bucceri has an extensive appellate practice including multiple appearances before the State Supreme Court. 

                Lou is often called upon to present lectures and workshops to employees and union representatives in areas including, tenure, seniority, educational licensing and certification, computers in the workplace, institutional abuse litigation and school ethics. He has participated in the drafting of regulations and legislation related to employment issues impacting tenure hearings and other disciplinary proceedings, grievance arbitration, pension rights and contract termination. He is a member of the American and New Jersey State Bar Associations. 

               Mr. Bucceri received his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in 1972 from Bucknell University. He was awarded a Juris Doctor degree from New York University's School of Law in 1975.  


Gregory T. Syrek

 Gregory T. Syrek joined the firm of Bucceri & Pincus in 1981. He has been a partner since 1991. Mr. Syrek has been concentrating his practice in providing legal services in the area of  public sector labor relations and education law since 1979, representing public employees and labor unions throughout that time. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and has experience representing clients in matters before the Commissioner of Education, State Board of Education, State Board of Examiners, Public Employment Relations Commission, Office of Administrative Law, Institutional Abuse Investigations Unit, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, New Jersey Division on Civil Rights and New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association. Continued representation of clients throughout the litigation process has led to the filing and defense of appeals in a wide variety of matter before the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division and the New Jersey Supreme Court.

               Mr. Syrek has participated in the drafting of legislation and administrative regulations regarding novice teachers and the New Jersey Provisional Teacher Program. He regularly provides advice and guidance to union representatives and members on topics such as tenure, seniority, family leave, unfair labor practice charges, representation elections, professional certification, negotiations issues, the Open Public Records Act and workplace accommodations.

               Mr. Syrek received his Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Fordham University in 1976. He was awarded his Juris Doctor degree from New York University School of Law in 1979.

Albert J. Leonardo

 Albert J. Leonardo joined Bucceri & Pincus as an Associate Attorney in 2011. Al earned his undergraduate degree from New York University in 2007 and his Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall Law School in 2011. He was a member of the Seton Hall Sports and Entertainment Law Journal. Mr. Leonardo has extensive experience in school employee tenure charge arbitrations, as well as matters before the New Jersey Division of Pensions, the State Board of Examiners, the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights and cases arising out of investigations by the New Jersey Department of Children and Families. 
               Mr. Leonardo is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.
